Guest Lecture by Prof. Stefan Koos on “Artificial Intelligence and Law”

Professor Stefan Koos from the Universität der Bundeswehr München, Germany, taught at the Undergraduate Law Program, Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII). He served as a part-time lecturer for approximately one week, from Tuesday, September 30, 2025, to Thursday, October 4, 2025. Professor Koos taught several courses in the Undergraduate Law Program, including: Cyber Law, Commercial Law, Introduction to Indonesian Legal System, and Introduction to Legal Science. During his tenure at the UII Faculty of Law, Professor Koos delivered material covering several key themes, namely: Copyright and training of AI, International Company Law, Protection of Entrepreneurial Achievement in Unfair Competition Law, Consumer Protection in Germany, Digital Globalization and Law Development, and AI in Law. The public lecture, which was attended by students, took place in several rooms, such as the Erasmus Room, the Audiovisual Room, and the West Stageroom of the UII Faculty of Law Building. At the end of the final session, the Head of the Undergraduate Law Program, Dodik Setiawan Nur Heriyanto, S.H., M.H., LL.M., Ph.D., represented the Faculty in presenting a souvenir to Prof. Stefan, followed by a photo session with the students.

In addition to the public lecture, Prof. Stefan also conducted a workshop attended by lecturers at the UII Faculty of Law. The theme for this workshop was “Introduction to AI & Law for Lecturers.” The workshop, held in the Erasmus Room, was moderated by Sheila Noor Baity, S.H., LL.M., a lecturer at the UII Faculty of Law. Lecturers from several departments of the Faculty of Law, including Civil Law, Criminal Law, International Law, Constitutional Law, and State Administrative Law, were also in attendance.

While in Yogyakarta, Professor Stefan Koos also enjoyed culinary tourism and attended a dinner reception hosted by the entire leadership of the UII Faculty of Law. The dinner was held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Swasana Restaurant. During the meeting, Professor Koos expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and the hospitality extended by the UII Faculty of Law. He expressed hope that he would be able to return to teach at the UII Faculty of Law annually, perhaps focusing on one or two specific courses, to allow students to gain a deeper focus on the material provided by Professor Stefan Koos.
