Featuring Experts from 4 Countries, UII Faculty of Law Successfully Hosts The 7th International Students Colloquium 2025

On Monday, December 1, 2025, the Undergraduate Law Study Program (International Program) at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), once again organised the 7th International Students Colloquium (ISC) 2025. Carrying the theme “Navigating the Crossroads: Law, Democracy, and Constitutionalism in a Shifting Global Landscape,” the event featured expert speakers from various nations.
The invited speakers included Prof. Dr. Ni’matul Huda, S.H., M.Hum. (Universitas Islam Indonesia), Prof. Dr. Ildiko Bartha (University of Debrecen, Hungary), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kabiru Adamu (Bayero University, Nigeria), and Prof. Dr. Ida Madieha Binti Abdul Ghani Azmi (International Islamic University Malaysia/IIUM). Serving as the moderator for the event was Faculty of Law lecturer Muhammad Addi Fauzani, S.H., M.H. Meanwhile, the keynote speaker was the Professor from Udayana University, Prof. Dr. I Dewa Gede Palguna, S.H., M.Hum.

This year marks the seventh edition of the ISC, attended by approximately 30 presenters, the majority of whom are undergraduate students. The participants hailed from diverse higher education institutions, including Universitas Islam Indonesia, Universitas Surabaya, Universitas Negeri Semarang, Universitas Lampung, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya, Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, President University, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Bhayangkara Jakarta Raya, University of Malaya, Universitas Banten Jaya, and the International Islamic University Malaysia.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of the UII Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Budi Agus Riswandi, S.H., M.Hum., emphasized the importance of this event for students’ academic development. “This activity has been running for approximately seven years and serves as a means of enrichment and dissemination of student works, especially for those studying in the international program. It also aims to facilitate their work and research for publication at the international level,” stated Prof. Budi.
Echoing the Dean’s sentiments, the Head of the Undergraduate Law Study Program, Dodik Setiawan Nur Heriyanto, S.H., M.H., LL.M., PhD, conveyed the distinctiveness of this year’s ISC. “This time, the International Students Colloquium feels special as we have guests from Nigeria. This is part of our effort to strengthen relationships with Nigerian students currently studying in the international program,” he noted.
Issues regarding constitutional law became the main highlight of this colloquium, aligning with the plan to open a constitutional law specialisation within the International Program, Faculty of Law, UII. Through this activity, students are expected to absorb knowledge from diverse global perspectives, particularly from Malaysia, Hungary, and Nigeria.
The series of events concluded with a networking session and the presentation of mementoes by the Dean of the Faculty of Law UII. The agenda then continued with the call for papers session, divided into seven chambers (presentation rooms). Each room accommodated 4-5 presenters showcasing their research findings. The output of this activity will be an international proceeding published directly by the Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia.
