History
The Center for Islamic Law Studies (PSHI) Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia is an independent study center located within the Faculty of Law, Islamic University of Indonesia. The forerunner to PSHI emerged around 1982 and was initiated by Azhar Basyir, Darwin Harsono, AE Priyono, Aunurrahim Faqih, and several other people. Azhar Basyir was the first director of PSHI who was later replaced by Darwin Harsono. The PSHI office at that time was located on Iris Street, Yogyakarta.

At the beginning of its appearance, PSHI concentrated on studying Islamic law and publishing Islamic books. At that time, PSHI was a unit supporting Islamic student activities in collaboration with the Islamic Religious Education and Development Institute (LPPAI) of the Universitas Islam Indonesia.

PSHI was inaugurated by the Minister of Religion Suryadarma Ali on October 28 2013. At that time the director was Agus Triyanta with the board consisting of Rohidin and Karimatul Ummah. At this time, PSHI is increasingly clarifying its existence by focusing study, research and community service in the field of Islamic law on positive legal aspects, as well as Islamic da’wah.

Currently PSHI has an office on Faculty of Law Building, Semibasement Floor, Yogyakarta Jl. Kaliurang Km 14,5 Yogyakarta. PSHI actively conducts studies, discussions, research and community service in collaboration with several agencies or institutions such as Online Law.

Objective
  1. Developing legal knowledge from the perspective of Islamic law in positive legal aspects.
  2. Educate the public about Islamic law in positive legal aspects.

Vision and Mission
Vision:

“The realization of the Center for Islamic Law Studies, Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia as a rahmatan lil ‘alamin which adheres firmly to the values ​​and principles of Islamic law in legal development.”

Mission:

  1. Conduct a study of Islamic law in positive legal aspects.
  2. Carrying out research on Islamic law and positive law in an integrative and interconnective manner.
  3. Carry out Islamic service and da’wah to the community in order to foster Islamic values ​​in society.
