UII Faculty of Law Delegation Participates in the IALS Annual Meeting in Thailand

The International Association of Law Schools (IALS) held its Annual Meeting on 8–10 September 2025, hosted by the Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. This three-day event focused on group discussions and presentations addressing current and relevant issues in the development of law schools worldwide.

For this year’s meeting, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) sent a delegation of four representatives: Drs. Agus Triyanta, S.H., M.Hum. (Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law), Dr. Bambang Sutiyoso, S.H., M.Hum. (Head of Department), Mukmin Zakie, S.H., M.Hum., Ph.D. (Head of the Bachelor in Business Law Program), and Dodik Setiawan Nur Heriyanto, Ph.D. (Head of the Undergraduate Law Program). In addition to participating as attendees, one of the delegates, Dodik Setiawan Nur Heriyanto, Ph.D., was invited as a panel speaker to discuss how law school curricula should be updated to address the rapid developments in the legal profession and education.

The IALS Annual Meeting was attended by approximately 80 participants, many of whom serve as deans or vice deans of law schools representing all five continents. The event was officially opened by Professor Pareena Srivanit, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University; Professor Laura Wen-yu Young, IALS Secretary General (University of California, Berkeley, USA); and Professor Gabriel Bocksang-Hola, President of IALS. Over the course of three days, participants engaged in breakout sessions to discuss strategic issues in legal education and to strengthen global networking among law schools.

“This event is highly significant for the Faculty of Law, UII, as it allows us to stay updated on the latest developments among law schools worldwide and use them as benchmarks for innovation. Moreover, this occasion provides an excellent opportunity to build networks with leading law schools around the world,” said Drs. Agus Triyanta, S.H., M.Hum., Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, UII.
