During their visit to Thailand, the delegation from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) — comprising Drs. Agus Triyanta, S.H., M.Hum. (Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law), Dr. Bambang Sutiyoso, S.H., M.Hum. (Head of Department), Mukmin Zakie, S.H., M.Hum., Ph.D. (Head of the Bachelor in Business Law Program), and Dodik Setiawan Nur Heriyanto, Ph.D. (Head of the Undergraduate Law Program) — conducted exploratory discussions for potential collaboration with the leadership of the Faculty of Law at Chulalongkorn University.
“We sincerely hope that this will lead to a new partnership with Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Law in Thailand, which can be utilized for activities under the tridharma perguruan tinggi — teaching, research, and community service. It is well-known that this institution holds the highest reputation and ranking for legal education in Thailand. Their international collaborations are already well-developed, including the provision of international classes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels,” said Drs. Agus Triyanta, S.H., M.Hum., Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, UII.
In addition to these exploratory talks, the UII delegation participated in the prestigious annual meeting organized by the International Association of Law Schools (IALS). One of the delegates, Dodik Setiawan Nur Heriyanto, Ph.D., was invited as a speaker to present on the topic of updating legal curricula in response to rapid global developments.
During the discussions, the UII Faculty of Law shared its plan to begin drafting a formal cooperation agreement, with a particular focus on establishing a student exchange program. The initiative aims to provide UII students with opportunities to study or participate in short-term exchange programs at Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Law.
“This is in line with our ongoing internationalization efforts. When successful, such cross-border student exchanges typically lead to further initiatives, including faculty exchanges, collaborative research, and joint teaching programs,” added Dodik Setiawan Nur Heriyanto, Ph.D., on the sidelines of the IALS meeting.
It is worth noting that the Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University was first established in 1933 as part of the Faculty of Law and Political Science and became an independent faculty in 1972.
