GRADUATE PROFILE DESCRIPTION

A. Underlying Philosophy
The graduate profile is illustrated in the form of an octagon on a Pyramid. Octagon is used as a symbol of religious iconography in Islamic civilization, while pyramid is used to show a solid foundation.

B. Graduate Profile Foundation
The foundation for formulating the graduate profile is symbolized as a pyramid that consists of four layers which covers Islamic values, universality, and nationality. These are the foundation for formulating the graduate profile with the largest proportion being an Islamic foundation. Below is the explanation of these values:

1) Islamic Values

The Islamic values as the basic values that form graduate profile are as follows:
a) devotion to Allah SWT and ability to show a religious attitude;
b) ability to become Muslim scholars and leaders of the nation who are pious and knowledgeable, have noble character, and demonstrate scientific attitude;
c) ability to implement da’wah Islamiyah in the context of realizing Islam that is rahmatan lil ‘alamin (a mercy to all creation).

2) Universality

Universality as the basic value that forms graduate profile is as follows:
a) universally applicable good values ​​in the fields of science, leadership, and professionalism;
b) the value and spirit of competition with graduates from other universities of which the quality is the same as those of universities in developed countries.

3) Nationalism

Nationalism as the basic value that forms graduate profile is as follows:

a) contributing to the improvement of the quality of life in a social sphere, as well as the progress of civilization;
b) respecting the diversity of cultures, religions and beliefs, as well as the opinions of others;
c) obeying the law and being disciplined in the life in a social sphere;

4) Independence

Independence as the basic value that forms graduate profile is as follows:

a) showing responsibility for the work in the area of expertise;
b) showing the spirit of independence and perseverance.

The green color in the Pyramid symbolizes religous character or spirit and continuity of life.

C. Profile Resulted

The profile resulted in the center of the octagon demonstrates graduate profiles that have integrity and professionalism in whatever roles they are given. The detailed explanation of the meaning of this part is as follows:

  1. the meaning of “integrity” is a graduate of the Master Program in Notarial Law who has quality or character that shows a complete unity so as to have the potential and ability that reflects morality;
  2. the meaning of “professional” is a graduate of the Master Program in Notarial Law who has intellectuality and expertise to exercise the profession. Professionalism is elaborated in terms of professional roles as mentioned in the outer layer;

The yellow color in the octagon core represents success, while the red color symbolizes the strength and courage of the graduates in upholding truth and justice.

D. Expected Roles

The outer layer of the octagon shows the role of the graduates. The role as academicians is the largest, followed by the role as practitioners and community activists. Each role is described as follows:

  1. Practitioners are graduates of the Master Program in Law who have expertise in notarial law.
  2. Academicians are graduates of the Master Progam in Notarial Law who have expertise in legal research and notarial law and ability to play a role in education, research and community services.

The blue color in the outer layer of the octagon symbolizes assertiveness or authority that reflects the idealism and spiritual inspiration of the graduates’ integrity.

E. Graduate Role Proportion

Each role has a different proportion with the largest one being practitioners, followed by a smaller proportion as academicians. This is because the character of the Master Program in Notarial Law education is emphasized more on professional development. Although the role as academicians only has a small proportion, the academic spirit should be contained in the character of the graduates in general.
