Erfina Fuadatul Khilmi’s Public Defence Examination

[KALIURANG]; Saturday (10/08), at 10.00 WIB, the Erfina Fuadatul Khlimi’s Public Defense Examination for Doctoral Promotion was held by the doctoral study program in law (PSHPD) Faculty of Law (FH) Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) with a dissertation entitled “Reconceptualization of Content Material Regarding Interfaith Harmony in the Regional Regulation of East Java Province Number 8 of 2018 Concerning the Implementation of Tolerance in Community Life.”

Erfina Fuadatul Khilmi present that the East Java Provincial Tolerance Regulation was formed as an instrument that is expected to facilitate the provincial government in dialogue and reconciliation to prevent intolerant and discriminatory attitudes towards fundamental issues of East Java society (related to diversity of ethnicity, race, religion, class and socio-economic). However, the use of regional authority in the content of this Tolerance Regulation has caused excessive euphoria of regional autonomy regarding the maintenance of interfaith harmony.

The doctoral candidate continued, that the Article 1 section (5) of the East Java Provincial Tolerance Regulation defines tolerance as a willingness to recognize and respect the civil rights of the Community in accepting differences in religious, cultural, and social diversity as well as special conditions in community, national and state life. The term “special conditions” in the material content of the Regulation is full of the risk of being misunderstood because the benchmark used is the mainstreaming of individual rights as demanded within liberal boundaries, so that it is not limited by the values ​​of civilized tolerance in local community life, especially in East Java Province.

So it is important to reconceptualize the material content regarding religious harmony in the East Java Provincial Tolerance Regulation to realize civilized tolerance. There are at least two formulations of the problem raised by the doctoral candidate, namely: Why is the material content of the East Java Provincial Regulation Number 8 of 2018 concerning the Implementation of Tolerance in Community Life regarding the protection of religious harmony not in accordance with the laws and regulations above it; How is the reconceptualization of the content of religious harmony in the Regional Regulation of East Java Province Number 8 of 2018 concerning the Implementation of Tolerance in Community Life based on Pancasila.

 

The Public Defense Examination of Doctoral Promotion Dissertation on behalf of Erfina Fuadatul Khilmi was held in the Auditorium Room, 4th Floor, FH UII, chaired by the Dean of FH UII, Prof. Dr. Budi Agus Riswandi, S.H., M.Hum., with promoter Prof. Dr. Ni’matul Huda, S.H., M.Hum., co-promoter Dr. Drs. Rohidin, S.H., M.Ag.., with examiners: Prof. Dr. Drs. H. Makhrus, S.H., M.Hum., Dr. Janedjri M. Gaffar, S.H., M.Si., Dr. Drs. Muntoha, S.H., M.Ag., Dr. Sri Hastuti Puspitasari, S.H., M.H. During the exam session, the doctoral candidate was able to answer questions well and was able to defend the arguments in her dissertation. Dr. Erfina Fuadatul Khilmi, S.H., M.H. officially holds the 173rd doctoral degree who graduated from the doctoral study program in law, FH UII. The promoter, Prof. Dr. Ni’matul Huda S.H., M.Hum prayed that the new degree obtained would be a blessing for Dr. Erfina Fuadataul Khilmi, S.H., M.H. and prayed that she would be able to obtain a professors after this.

Strengthening Election Organizing Institutions, FH UII Students Undertake Internship at DIY KPU

The Undergraduate Study Program in Law (PSHPS), Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia (FH UII) again sent its students to contribute to Internship activities, Monday (27/5/2024) in the Audio Visual and Discussion Room of the General Election Commission (KPU) Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).

This activity was attended by International Program in Law students, Risang Mahesa Wrinsah as the intern, Dodik Setiawan Nur Heriyanto, S.H., M.H., LL.M., Ph.D. as the Head of Undergraduate Program in Law as well as Apprenticeship Supervising Lecturer, and Sri Surani from KPU Yogyakarta Special Region members and other KPU members.

“We are very grateful for the welcome from the KPU who are willing to accept our students to undertake apprenticeships, we hope that you can participate optimally. Please provide guidance and supervision to our students during the apprenticeship process. Our campus, especially the Undergraduate Study Program in Law, is open to collaborating with the KPU in organizing activities such as Seminars, Public Lectures, Practitioner Lectures in the future. We really hope to be able to establish good cooperation in the academic field with KPU DIY.” explained the Head of Study Program in Law, Faculty of Law, UII.

In response to the word answer, Sri assessed that the DIY KPU was the right place for student interns to jump in and study directly the election socialization messages and political practices that are taking place in Indonesia. “We certainly welcome the cooperation plan offered by FH UII, some time ago we also held outreach on other campuses such as UKDW and UAD,” he concluded.

Collaborating with Aston University Lecturers, FH UII Invites Students to be Literate on Copyright

“Corporate Law and IPR Under the UK Legal System” is the theme presented by General Lecturer Dr. Nadia Naim on Wednesday (26/7), taking place in the East Wing of the Stage Room, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Law (FH) Building, Indonesian Islamic University (UII). The Public Lecture was held as part of the initiation of the Faculty of Law at the Islamic University of Indonesia.

Dr. Nadia Naim works as a Senior Lecturer at Aston Law School, Aston University, Birmingham UK. He is an academic responsible for areas including Intellectual Property Rights, International Intellectual Property Policy and Development, and Islamic Finance and International Trade. “Aston University, especially the Law School, has an orientation towards Business and Trade Law. This is so that our students have an entrepreneurial spirit so that they can create jobs. Moreover, the UK ranks fourth (4th) in the global innovation index which to enter into rank 4 must meet 80 indicators and one of these indicators is the IPR. Apart from that, interest in Islamic Finance Law in England is also increasing,” explained Nadia in her presentation.

The public lecture lasted 90 minutes and was attended by more than 50 students. The speaker was accompanied by the Head of the Law Study Program at the Faculty of Law (FH) at the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), namely Dodik Setiawan Nur Heriyanto, S.H., M.H., LL.M., Ph. D. together with the Secretary of the Law Study Program International Program FH UII Dr. Aroma Elmina Martha, S.H., M.H. “The World Intellectual Property Organization deals with RIGHTS on an international scale to standardize intellectual protection. IPR legal standards throughout the world refer to the standards set by IPR. The requirements for obtaining a copyright are proving its originality, fulfilling the product category that can be copyrighted, ensuring that the product is tangible. So a person can become a Creator if the results of his creation meet the three categories above. he explained.

The series of Public Lecture events were interspersed with discussion activities between Dr. Nadia with the Dean of FH UII and several high-ranking officials of FH UII discussed the potential for collaboration between FH UII and Aston University in developing international mobility and research activities between the two parties. In addition, Nadia had the opportunity to tour the ancient site of Kimpulan Temple in the middle of the Indonesian Islamic University Library area, and enjoy the beauty of Borobudur Temple, Mount Merapi, Malioboro Street, and shop at Batik Hamzah.

In a public lecture at FH UII, a lecturer from the UK Explains the Essence of Patents and Intellectual Property rights

Sleman, law.uii.ac.id – Postgraduate Law Master’s Program, Faculty of Law, Islamic University of Indonesia (MH UII) is committed to continuing its endeavours in increasing scientific knowledge, one of which is by holding General Lectures by academics and practitioners who are experts in their fields. This Public Lecture which was held on Wednesday (26/7) with Dr. Nadia Naim Senior Lecturer from Aston Law School, Aston University, Birmingham UK. Nadia hosted the Public Lecture with the theme “IPR Based on Law and Development Perspective” at the Stage Room, East Wing, Lt. 3 Building of the Faculty of Law, Islamic University of Indonesia at 09.00 – 11.00 WIB and was attended by more than 50 students of the Law Master’s Program at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia.

Nadia Naim in her presentation explained that with Intellectual Property Rights, one can monetize and get rewards from innovations made. Talking about IPR means talking about new ideas, then these ideas are implemented into a product. So it is necessary to have IPR to protect the right to create the product and to guarantee confidentiality in the manufacture of a product. “In Europe, every item or work has obtained its IPR by registering the documents that support the manufacture of the item or work, then the work will receive 70 years of IPR which is still valid even after the creator of the work dies,” he said.

Furthermore, Head of the UII Law Faculty of Law Study Program, Dodik Setiawan Nur Heriyanto, S.H., M.H., LL.M., Ph.D. conveyed in his speech that students need the insertion of comparative knowledge. “Students will not only deal with domestic problems, because now there are many influences from outside. We adopt IPR from the TRIPS Agreement from the Franchise Agreement, we all adopt it from the practices of foreign companies in Indonesia.” he concluded. In this case, Dodik became the moderator and helped with the translation during the General Lecturer.

The Events

There will be two events in the International Student Colloquium 2021, namely: The International Conference and the International Paper Competition.

The International Conference is open for lecturers, students, or others, and will be conducted online. There will be magnificent professors from all over the world who will speak about the role and challenges of Cyber Law from their countries’ perspective.

The International Paper Competition is open for undergraduate Law students from any university around the world. The selected papers will be presented at the International Student’s Colloquium and be given several awards, namely: 1st Best Paper, 2nd Best Paper, 3rd Best Paper, and 4th Best Paper. For presentation: 1st Best Presenter, 2nd Best Presenter, and 3rd Best Presenter. For Participant: 1st Best Participant and 2nd Best Participant. Also, other extraordinary awards from the students will be announced during the event

The submission for International Paper will be opened due November 30th, 2021. The submitted papers will be selected through two selection processes. The Preliminary Selection will be conducted to select the 15 best papers from all. The result of the Preliminary Selection will be announced via Instagram @jci_uii and will be contacted by Email and Whatsapp on December 8th, 2021. The selected papers will be presented during the Final Round on December 15th, 2021, which will be conducted online. Student Release of International Mobility Program 2021

On this day, Tuesday (07/09/2021) has been implemented successfully the 2021 International Mobility Program Student Release event by the Faculty of Law of the Islamic University of Indonesia (FH UII). The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Abdul Jamil, S.H., M.H., Deputy Dean for Resources, Hanafi Amrani, S.H., M.H., LL.M., Ph.D., Secretary of the Department of The Faculty of Law, Islamic University of Indonesia, Bagya Agung Prabowo, S.H., M.Hum., Ph.D., Chairperson of the Undergraduate Law Study Program, Prof. Dr. Budi Agus Riswandi, S.H., M.Hum., Secretary of the Undergraduate Program Legal Studies Program, Ari Wibowo, S.H., S.H.I., M.Hum., Secretary of the International Program Legal Studies Program, Dodik Setiawan, S.H., M.H., LL.M., Ph.D. directly at the Faculty of Law of the Islamic University of Indonesia. The release event began with the opening conducted by the  Master of Ceremony  (MC) and continued the speech and report by the Head of the 2021 International Mobility Program Team, Dodik Setiawan, S.H., M.H., LL.M., Ph.D. In his speech, he said that the student delegation that followed the program had been equipped with any applications used in the learning process in the intended country.

Then the delegation representatives delivered a farewell welcome represented by Aryana Sekar Widyaningsih. As for some of the names of delegates in the International Mobility Program 2021, which is divided into 3 (three) destinations; 1) Akhiruddin Syahputra Lubis, Aryana Sekar Widyaningsih, and Egita Fira Widya who will carry out credit transfer programs at Youngsan University South Korea; 2) Annisa Aulya Putri who will carry out the IISMA Program at the University of Sussex, UK; 3) Mohammad Fadel Roihan Baabud who will carry out the IISMA Program at the University of Warsaw, Poland. The release of the delegates was carried out by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Abdul Jamil, S.H., M.H. said that in addition to parents, the delegates are very proud for us and the Faculty of Law UII.

After the welcome by the Dean of the Faculty of Law UII, continued the delivery of the education kit of the Dean of the Faculty of Law and accompanied by the Deputy Dean of Resources and Secretary of the Department of The Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia, as well as a healthy kit  submitted by the Head of the Undergraduate Program’s Legal Studies Program which will be accompanied by each Secretary of the Study Program and received by 2 (two) student representatives. The  2021 International Mobility Program Student Release Event was finally concluded with a prayer that was prayed together and led by the Secretary of the Department of the Faculty of Law of the Islamic University of Indonesia, Bagya Agung Prabowo, S.H., M.Hum., Ph.D.
