International Student Colloquium 2021

Wednesday, December 15, 2021, the UII International Law Study Program in collaboration with the Juridical Council of International Program (JCI) held an agenda, namely the International Student Colloquium (ISC) 2021 as a forum for law students to play an active role in improving themselves to become a brave generation, achievement, and character in this era. The agenda raised the theme “The Interface between Law and Technology in the time of Pandemic”, against the backdrop of a significant increase in the use of technology during a pandemic. The agenda began with the opening by reading “Basmalah” together led by the Dean of the Faculty of Law UII, Dr. Abdul Jamil, S.H., M.H. The series of ISC agendas are not just conferences, but there are other agendas, namely the presentation of “call for papers” by participants who have submitted previous papers.

The International Student Colloquium invited outstanding international speakers from South Korea, Hungary, and Indonesia. The material presented was extraordinarily useful and relevant to current technological developments. The first speaker is Prof. Park Jihyun from Youngsan University, South Korea, who talked about how technology can become a necessity for humans in today’s times such as all the conveniences of doing things without the need to meet people in person. For example, we can consult a doctor through the application, but what about the accountability of the data recorded in the application can be discriminated against for its safety. Prof. Dr. Fezer Tamas, Ph.D. delivered the second material. The professor from the School of Law, University of Debrecen, Hungary, discussed data protection and Cybersecurity Law in Hungary. Lastly, the presentation of material by Prof. Dr. Budi Agus Riswandi, SH, M. Hum., talks about the Future of Cyber ​​Law in Indonesia related to the existence of intellectual property rights of each subject.

The implementation of the ISC was received with great enthusiasm from students, considering that there were more than 100 (one hundred) people attending this event and it was followed by questions about the material presented by the speakers. The event was closed with the announcement of a call for paper a championship that was participated by several universities in Indonesia and Malaysia and the awarding of awards to the UII Faculty of Law academic community.
