OVERVIEW
Dodik Setiawan Nur Heriyanto is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of International Law, Faculty of Law, Islamic University of Indonesia since 2012. He is the founder and chair of Base for International Law and ASEAN Legal Studies (BILALS) in Indonesia. Previously, between 2009 to 2012, he worked as legal drafter, at Legal Department, Local Government of Yogyakarta’s Special Region who has authority to draft local regulations and bilateral agreements.
Dodik Setiawan holds Degree in Law (S.H.) from Islamic University of Indonesia; Master of Law (M.H.) from Islamic University of Indonesia 2008; second Master of Law (L.LM.) from the University of Debrecen in 2015; and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Gèza Marton Doctoral School of Legal Studies, University of Debrecen with Summa Cum Laude predicate. Dodik Setiawan received the Golden Badge in academic achievements of the Islamic University of Indonesia (2008); Hungarian State Scholarship Awardee (2014) to fund his PhD study, Campus Mundus Research Grant to the Faculty of Law, Utrecht University (2015), Silver Medallion of Dr. Ihrig Károly (2016), Runner-Up position for Essay Competition held by Hungarian Embassy for Indonesia (2016), and Best Speaker awards at local and international conferences.He is very active in conducting research with particular interests in Humanitarian Law, Diplomatic and Consular Law, and International Dispute Settlement Law.
He received various research funds such as: from Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (2012), John Hopkin School of Public Health (2014), and Hungarian Academic of Sciences (MTA-DE Public Service Research Project, 2015).
