BANGI, Malaysia (2 November 2025) – The spirit of international collaboration and cultural excellence shone brightly as Abi Abdullah, a mobility student from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia (FH UII), proudly represented UII at the 8th ASEAN Art Festival 2025 (UKM ARTSEAN), held at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) from 29 October to 3 November 2025.

The festival, themed “Diversity in Rhythm and Heritage,” gathered more than 300 participants from across ASEAN and beyond, including delegates from Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, Malaysia, and special participants from China, Japan, South Korea, India, France, Canada, Kazakhstan, and Bangladesh.

Organised by the UKM University Cultural Centre, UKM Artisukma, Againstar Sdn. Bhd., and the Language and Library Council (DBP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), the festival served as a vibrant platform for cultural exchange, creative collaboration, and artistic expression.

Representing FH UII, Abi Abdullah showcased exceptional creativity and cultural expression, earning an Art Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution during the event. His achievement reflects UII’s commitment to nurturing global-minded students who promote peace, unity, and cultural understanding through the arts.

“This recognition is not just an individual accomplishment but also a reflection of UII’s vision to build bridges of collaboration and understanding across nations through culture and creativity,” said Abi.

Throughout the five-day festival, participants engaged in a variety of activities, including ASEAN dance workshops, the ASEAN Malay Song Singing Competition, and cultural visits to the Mah Meri Cultural Village and the National Museum. These activities strengthened bonds among participants while promoting appreciation for ASEAN’s shared heritage and diversity.

The participation of FH UII in this international event underscores the university’s ongoing efforts to advance international mobility, cultural diplomacy, and academic excellence, further positioning UII as an active contributor to the global academic and cultural community.
