This activity was carried out online via Online Zoom at 20.00 IWT and was attended by students from the Undergraduate Study Program in Law. On this occasion, the International Guest Lecture activity was accompanied by resource person Dr. Zsolt Hajnal with the theme “Principles and Tendencies of the Private International Law of the European Union”.

Dr. Zsolt Hajnal, in his presentation, explained that the role of the European Union in the regulation of Private International Law is a new identity for defining the European legal order and facilitating the efficient functioning of the internal market. He also added that there is a new purpose for the role of the European Union in Private International Law which is regulated in the European Union, namely “As an internal market which creates the need to increase the predictability of litigation results, certainty of applicable law and freedom of movement in making decisions regarding legal conflict rules in member countries. The States will establish the same national law regardless of the state of the court in which an action is filed.”

The European Union has made significant efforts to create a unified system of private international law, aimed at simplifying legal issues across its member states. The system is built on a foundation of core principles and evolving trends. Private International Law can help determine which country’s law governs the dispute and ensure a fair and efficient resolution. So, with this activity, it is hoped that students from the Undergraduate Study Program in Lawwill be better prepared to handle legal issues with international elements which are a trend in the interconnected and developing world today.

This Guest Lecture event was moderated byThe Head of Undergraduate Study Program in Law at the Faculty of Law, Dodik Setiawan Nur Heriyanto, S.H., M.H., LL.M., Ph.D., and attended by around 100 students from the Undergraduate Study Program in Law.
